All Day | Hands only CPR (Multi-Day Event) MWCC SNA has a yearly project that is done in an effort to support the community. This year we have continued the task of teaching hands only CPR with one major change. Previously teachings were calculated via signatures obtained from individuals that we taught how to perform hands only CPR. Now the calculation is done via social media. We have a specific hashtag, #CPRSavesLivesMWCC Each time this tag is used, it will count as a signature. For every like, comment and share we get a "signature". this can be done via any social media platform including twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc. we currently have an Instagram account @hands_only_cpr which has a few posts to get us started. If you would like you can follow the account and tag it in any posts that you make with the # Remember this is done in correlation with the American Heart Association and all posts should be appropriate and educational. with that being said, we do need to try and get "likes" so humor, as long as it is appropriate is ok. Lets Save Lives!!

All Day | Weekly Contest: Student Center Trivia (Multi-Day Event) This week the Student Life Office is launching our brand new Virtual Student Center! To help celebrate this we are hosting a Student Center Trivia contest to help students acclimate to the new Virtual Student Center, but to also look back on the history of the student center on the Gardner Campus. In order to enter the contest you will need to check out the Virtual Student Center as well as do a little research on the MWCC website to find some information about the student center on the Gardner campus. You'll then need to complete the Student Center Trivia Quiz. All correct entries will be entered to win a $25 Amazon Gift Card. To access the Virtual Student Center, follow the link, www.kumospace.com/mwccstudentcenter, register with your MWCC Student email (if you haven't already done so) and then enter the Virtual Student Center space. This space will be available to students to relax, meet other students, and connect with friends. The space is large enough that many groups can enjoy small gatherings throughout the room and hold private conversations. Please note the Kumospace currently is not completable with mobile devices or tablets and is best utilized using Google Chrome as your browser. To find the necessary information on the Gardner campus student center, begin by going to the Student Life page on the MWCC webpage.

5:30 PM - 7:00 PM | Arts Space Creators MWCC Art Club presents Arts Space CreatorsTracie Pouliot and Tiana Rae BurnettWednesday, March 3rd, 2021 5:30PM on ZoomHear them speak about their experiences and creating Arts Spaces Tracie Pouliot, Community Artist, MWCC faculty I grew up in central MA, received a Bachelor of Fine Art from Pratt Institute and a Master of Art in Community Art from Maryland Institute College of Art. I made the leap to become a working artist in 2013. My current art and community practice includes two major projects:
I run a custom hand-drawn portrait business called People You May Meet. I founded the Chair City Community Workshop in Gardner, MA. It is a volunteer-powered space where first hand accounts from furniture workers are made into hand-printed, hand-bound books using old fashioned methods of bookmaking. We celebrate the people who made the product that defines Chair City, while bringing the community together around the production of the books. This project is in the process of folding into a new project called the Chair City Legacy MakerSpace. I'm part of a group of folks in Gardner working to create a MakerSpace where folks can gather to learn skills from each other, share equipment and space. I believe that making things with other people honors the past, helps us imagine a bright future, and builds a positive and engaged community.
Tiana Rae Burnett, MWCC former Art student Since my graduation from UMass Amherst with a degree in Art History and Arts Management focus, I have been working to fulfill the needs of the creative and artistic community by providing platforms and space where individuals can develop and be celebrated under the right conditions. I have grown to become an entrepreneur, curator, project manager, space activator, creative problem solver and photographer who’s dedicated to advancing like minded individuals beyond what they’re taught to believe is possible. Throughout the pandemic I have been able to activate inactive spaces as a means to support our underserved community in Western MA. From Studio235: an 8k sq ft. Production studio and business incubator, to our current downtown Springfield Location - The HUB: Creative resource Hub, where Hustlers Unite and Build, we have provided solutions that allow those with the entrepreneurial mentality to come in and develop their own artistry/brand/business into creative income sources, under our teams direction.
